How multilingual guest support works

Write your guide once in your own language; guests read and ask in theirs. What gets translated, what doesn't, and how to check a translation.

You write the guide once, in whatever language you're comfortable in. Guests get the page in theirs — including the parts you never thought to translate, like the note about the recycling.

What guests control

The page picks up the language from the guest's browser and offers a switcher. Whatever they choose applies to the whole page and to the assistant's replies — they can ask in Portuguese and get answered in Portuguese from a guide you wrote in English.

What stays untranslated

  • Proper nouns — a restaurant's name stays the restaurant's name
  • Door codes, Wi-Fi passwords and anything else you enter as a literal value
  • Files you upload, which are served as-is

Check the language you get most

Open your page, switch it to the language your most common guests speak, and read the check-in section. Short, plain sentences translate well; jokes and idioms don't.
